Starting a Blog (or Welcome to my Blog)

And so it begins…
This isn’t my first attempt at a blog but, I’m hoping, it will be the first one I actually keep up with. For a few years now, I have listened to Digital Marketers sing the praises of blogging and got excited. OK, great, but my current employers don’t see the value. So maybe it’s time I started my own blog. Maybe, if I experiment with this kind of content, I can prove to myself, my current employers or any future employers that this actually works. The trick it to do it right. The trick is to find a topic people actually care about. I’m not sure this blog will satisfy that requirement but it might be fun to try.

What to write about?

They say write about what you know. I think that means write about what you care about. But digital marketers need to also write about what other people care about. Helpful, interesting information brings people back time and time again.

So what do I write about?

I have been creating art for years. I think I came out of the womb creating art. Officially, I’ve been a designer since 2000. But like many artists, I have been drawing since I was a kid, creating worlds with building and characters, writing stories. My playroom was an art studio. Literally.  My mother painted and sewed in the same room I played. I have never been able to pick just one way to express my urge to design and create. So there is no way I can pick just one topic to blog about.

I am a web/print designer, a digital content creator,  a carpenter, an artist, a painter, a potter, sometimes writer, and, even, a knitter. And that is just the beginning. I call my business Blue Kat Studios and it has no limits. It’s fitting that my Blue Kat Studio Blog had no limits either. I’m going to write about it all. The things I care about and, hopefully, the things other people care about. And, see where it go.

So it begins. Welcome to my blog.
